My attempts at astro imaging

IC410

IC410 is another Ha region of space, the hydrogen gas is glowing due to the hot young stars in the open cluster that is also in this image (NGC1893). This is quite faint and could have done with loads more exposure time as well as a longer focal length instrument – this was imaged with an ED80, in hindsight I should have used my 8″ SCT, maybe next year eh????.

The image is composed of 12x 7 minute subs giving a little under 1.5hrs. I had to do a lot of stretching and noise reduction to get this and I am not really all that happy with it but at the end of the day an image is an image!!!!
