My attempts at astro imaging

M101 – The Pinwheel Galaxy

This is the longest exposure I have yet taken – 7 hrs in 7 and 12 min subs of 101 the Pinwheel Galaxy.  It’s never ceases to amaze me that I can capture photons that have been travelling through space for 25 million years!  M101 is roughly twice the size of our own Milky Way galaxy and is in the constellation of Ursa Major.  This was imaged through an 8″ SCT with F6.3 reducer and a QHY8.
