Witches Broom nebula

With all this Harry Potter mania about at the moment I thought I would go for something topical!  The witches Broom Nebula is part of the vast Veil Nebula supernova remnant, in Cygnus – the bright star is 52 Cygni.  The supernova must have exploded around 10,000 years ago and lies about 1,400 light years from us.

This is actually only a few 5mins and 2X10 min subs, taken on the night of the 24th August 2011, it was an amazing clear night but unfortunatly I had to cut the run short as I had work next morning!

Anyway – enjoy!
