M27 the Dumbell Nebula

This is Messier Object number 27 – the Dumbell or as I prefer, the Apple Core nebula.  Like all planetary nebula this is the remnant of a supernova (Exploding Sun) that occured aroud 1400 years ago. This object is located in the constellation of Vulpecula, the fox and can be seen with binoculars but as always to see the real beauty requires long exposure CCD images.

These images (One is a closeup crop) were taken on the 16th of September and is 20X60s images taken with my F4 Newt and QHY8 CCD cam
